Former pro wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson pretty much drips on-screen charisma, but he can't overcome the banality of "Game Plan," a comedy so formulaic and uninspired that you'd swear you've seen the movie before. |

"Feast of Love" lives up to its name. It's a banquet. Veteran director Robert Benton ("Places in the Heart," "Nobody's Fool") delivers a humanistic tribute to amour in all its guises — romantic, carnal, spiritual, innocent, mature, paternal and fraternal. |

"Sydney White" is an Amanda Bynes comedy that shows the after-effects a long-running TV sitcom can have on an actress. The snappy, quick-on-the-uptake Bynes of "She's the Man" is missing in this college updating of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." |

It's a film brimming with affection and over-reaching ambition. And if Julie Taymor's visionary, wrongheaded "Across the Universe" fails, it at least fails on a grand scale. 'Tis folly, to be sure — literal-minded, silly, cliche-riddled folly. But it is glorious folly with purpose. |

The only winners in "Dragon Wars" are the computer-imaging geeks who must have logged tons of overtime. The rest of the world is left scratching its head at a monster epic so dismal that it doesn't even register as a guilty pleasure. |

Word association test. What's the first word to pop into your head? Roses: red. Sugar: sweet. Jodie Foster: victimized. Foster rarely stars in a film where she isn't somehow abused, typecasting that has reduced one of our most resourceful actresses to performing a string of variations on a plonking, one—note theme. |

If Dante Alighieri was writing these days about his travels through the levels of hell in "The Divine Comedy" he would have to go just a little deeper to find the place where those involved with "Mr. Woodcock" belong. |

Viggo Mortensen was busted the other day for smoking at the Ritz-Carlton, one of the city's fine hostelries. "It could be God, and he couldn't do it," sniffed one of the hotel's staff upon discovering an hors d'oeuvre plate full of butts in a room Mortensen had vacated. |

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
