WHAT'S CHAUTAUQUA?
Chautauqua — pronounced like “sha-TA-kwa” — is the name of a lake in southwestern New York state where the Chautauqua educational movement began.
The Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly was founded in 1874 near Jamestown, N.Y. Its success sparked a movement to broaden the scope beyond Sunday school to include academic subjects, music, art and physical education. Before radio and television, the Chautauqua movement united millions in common cultural and educational experiences. Orators, performers, and educators traveled to more than 12,000 sites nationwide, bringing lectures, performances, concerts, classes, and exhibitions to thousands of people in small towns and cities.
The High Plains Chautauqua takes place every August in Greeley and is produced in conjunction with Aims Community College, City of Greeley Museums, the Colorado Endowment for the Humanities, the Tribune and many area businesses.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
