 Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells released a statement Monday: "I am retiring from coaching football."
Parcells, 65, made the announcement 15 days after the team ended its season with a playoff loss to Seattle. He spent five years in Dallas and 20 years as an NFL head coach. Team owner Jerry Jones had no immediate comment, but one was planned for later Monday.
IN PARCELLS' WORDS
"I am in good health and feel lucky to have been able to coach in the NFL for an extended period of time. I leave the game and the NFL with nothing but good feelings and gratitude to all the players, coaches and other people that have assisted me in that regard."
PARCELLS POINTS
— Parcells has the ninth most wins in NFL history
— He has a career record of 183-138-1. He was 34-32 in Dallas, including 0-2 in the postseason.
— Parcells had one year left at more than $5 million on a contract extension signed last January.
— Parcells led the New York Giants to two Super Bowl titles, got the New England Patriots to a Super Bowl and took the New York Jets to the AFC title game.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
