Consumer groups drive against Apple's iTunes rules |

Add the Germans and the French to an effort to make iTunes-purchased songs compatible with digital music players that aren't iPods.
Norwegian Consumer Ombudsman Bjoern Erik Thon said Monday that consumer groups from France and Germany are joining similar groups in Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
"This is important because Germany and France are European giants," Thon said. "Germany, in particular, is a big market for digital music."
Thon said Norway gave Apple until September to change its polices, or face possible legal action and fines in the country.
"It cannot be good for the music industry for them to lock music into one system," he said.
HOW IT WORKS NOW
Songs purchased and downloaded through iTunes are designed to work with Apple's market-leading iPod players but not competitors' models and iPods generally can't play copy-protected music sold through non-Apple stores.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk.
