Suzanne Rougé is a jack of all trades. She’s a reflexologist, an aroma therapist, an educator, a sculptor, a writer, a painter, a salon hostess, a ceremonialist... and the list goes on. The 45-year-old is the owner of Hummingbird Horizons.
“I’ll have nine different jobs running at any particular time,” she said. “All these different things are things I feel very passionate about. Everything loops together in my life. They are all interrelated in my own being and are all facets of me.”
At the core of all she does is a deep devotion to the Earth.
“I remember I was a little sixth grader holding up a sign that said, ‘Give a hoot, don’t pollute’, ” Rougé said.
The more popular services Rougé offers are reflexology and the IonCleanse. Reflexology is a system of massaging specific areas of the foot or sometimes the hand to relieve stress, induce deep relaxation, increase circulation and renew energy.
IonCleanse is a form of detoxification that draws waste out of the body through the feet. Feet are placed into a bucket of water, then a small machine sends positively and negatively charged ions into the water, separating the water into oxygen and hydrogen. Toxins are pulled through the skin making the water murky.
She said the process is most effective after several treatments. She compares it to cleaning a filter of a fish tank.
“People feel better afterward,” she said. “People are really enamored by machines.”
Though Rougé is met by some skeptics, she doesn’t get discouraged. She believes in what she does and considers herself a spiritual person.
“I used to be a first-grade teacher in a Catholic school,” she said. “I made quite the left turn myself. It’s not like I have answers for anyone else. Spirituality motivated me. You have to gather what works for you.”

| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
