Imagine that you're a doctor, during a routine checkup, discovered a life-threatening cancerous tumor in your body. What if focusing your emotions and feelings on that tumor is all you need to do to save your life? Sound outrageous? Impossible? But changing such beliefs is Gregg Braden’s work. Braden is a best-selling author and former Colorado State University student who believes in self-healing. Braden’s latest book, “The Divine Matrix,” is on both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble’s bestseller lists. Last week, Braden was the guest on Coast-to-Coast AM radio with George Noory and he described the concepts in the “Matrix.” He is the first speaker in the Evenings with Extraordinary People series at the Lincoln Center that starts Thursday, Jan. 25. “The Divine Matrix is a nonconventional form of energy,” he said. “This matrix or field is not something that is ‘out there’ but rather it’s the very stuff that is holding us together.” Regardless of what you believe, Braden’s passion about what he writes is hard to resist, which explains the popularity of his books. “We’re empowered individually and collectively by the fact that everything is connected,” he said. No one event triggered his interest in self-healing. Before he traveled the world, Braden worked as a computer geologist, a senior computer systems designer and a technical operations manager. “I went to school at CSU and lived right down from Horsetooth Reservoir! Then I did my first program at the Open Door Book Store in Denver in 1986. I worked at Martin Marietta Aerospace in Denver and traveled to remote, isolated, pristine, rugged places where this wisdom is in the walls of the monasteries. Central Tibet, the mountains in Egypt, the monasteries in Bolivia and Peru taught me so much and are all places for ongoing research and research projects with other scientists and engineers.” During his time at these places learning from intellectuals with such diverse backgrounds, Braden said he learned a way to take what they already know and apply it to crises we’ve never seen. “What the best minds were saying is that right now we’re pressed with more problems than we’ve been faced with before: the possibility of a third World War, nuclear proliferation, new viruses, global climates changing,” Braden said. “Conventional ways of looking at the world are not working. So we’re now taking the 5,000-year-old traditions and marrying the best science with the best spirituality and manifesting it into a greater wisdom to help us address these issues.” ——— TO GO • Evenings with Extraordinary People Series • 7 p.m. each event • Lincoln Center, 417 W. | | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will.

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
