I know you're supposed to save a little from every paycheck, but sometimes you just can't. Here are the best reasons to spend and not save. 1. You were up too late last night, so you NEED that horribly overpriced coffee, water, and danish to even tackle the day. 2. Sometimes shoes are more important than saving for emergencies. If your car breaks down, your new tennis shoes can help you get to work right? 3. You've had a bad week, so you need to decompress with a dinner out, accompanied by some adult beverages. 4. Clothes. As long as you can wear them to work, then you NEED to buy them. (And just because you CAN wear them to work, doesn't mean you are required to.) 5. Music, whether it be in the form of concert tickets or cds, it's all very educational, therefore something you need to succeed in life. and finally... 6. Vacations. Let's face it, with out those, you might have already "offed" half of the people you work with.
Drews IRA advice Written by jwood38 on 2007-02-08 10:05:36 I was just told the same thing last night (about the Roth IRA.) Apparently I need to get going, I'm sadly approaching 30.... | Not that I save, but... Written by Drew on 2007-02-07 01:09:10 Being only 22, with no plans on marriage or child support anytime soon, I spend just about all that's left of my paychecks on books, movies, music and booze. But do you realize that if you put $100 dollars a month into an Roth IRA (or no-load mutual fund) between the ages of 25 and 65, you will retire as a millionare? But if you start that at 35, you'll only end up with $300,000. Something to think about...hey I still have a couple of years to splurge! | 7. | | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will.

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
