Not every lady can be a Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha or Miranda in real life. They can however, have a “Sex in the City” type girls night.

Gelazzi and Buzz and Bliss Salon and Spa team up to give women a chance to kick up their stiletto heals, catch up on gossip and pamper themselves every Tuesday night.

“We really can see the potential,” said Marcy Maxwell, Gelazzi general manager.

Gelazzi, the Italian gelato café at 128 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins, offers two-for-one stylish and delicious Gelatinis (gelato and liqueur combinations) served in a chilled martini glass. Inside, bright orange and green walls match the modern look that might as well be situated in the middle of The Big Apple.

While sipping on a cocktail, women can get discounted manicures and massages from Buzz and Bliss Salon and Spa.

“I think it’s a great idea,” said Sarah Istvanek, licensed manicurist and certified massage therapist with Buzz and Bliss. “Ladies can come with friends, have a drink and get pampered.”

Though the weather has deterred some from the swanky place, Maxwell sees it becoming a destination for women looking for relaxation.

“My best friend comes every week,” Maxwell said. “It’s turned into a weekly ritual for me. I’m enjoying it. More people will too, once the buzz picks up.”

Both businesses are fairly new and are excited about their partnership. Gelazzi opened last August and Buzz and Bliss opened two years ago.

Maxwell is hopeful the Ladies Night is the first of several specialty nights.
The idea is to offer fun and different events on a regular basis.

For women, the Ladies Night can become a time to catch up and have that much needed girl time, even for an hour.

Like the character Carrie Bradshaw says in the TV show “Sex and the City,” “It would be childish of us to deny that our lives weren’t changing. But for this night, none of us were going anywhere. That’s the thing about really good friends and a really great Manhattan.”

Or, in this case, a Gelatini.

——
GELATO VS. ICE CREAM

• Gelato is an Italian word for “frozen” and comes from the Italian word gelare, meaning “to freeze.”

• Gelato is typically made with fresh milk instead of cream, which means less fat and fewer calories.

• Gelato is also denser than ice cream because it is made with less air. Gelazzi’s gelato consists of 14 percent air, compared to about 90 percent air in standard ice cream.

• Gelato is served at a warmer temperature than American ice cream.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
