After four days of testimony, and a judge's ruling Thursday, there's still no end in sight in the battle for Anna Nicole Smith's body.
Thursday, a teary-eyed Judge Larry Seidlin ruled in Florida Circuit Court that Richard Milstein, the court-appointed guardian of Smith's baby, Dannielynn, would have custody of Smith's remains so they could finally be put to rest.
Seidlin said he wanted the body interred in the Bahamas, next to Smith's son, Daniel, who died in September. That's the solution Howard K. Stern, Anna Nicole's lawyer, who says he's the father of Dannielynn, sought.
But Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, has insisted her daughter be buried in their home state, Texas.
She has put the kibosh on Smith's being placed on her last bed at least for a while longer. Friday, her attorneys said they were appealing Seidlin's ruling. ___
BABY WITH THE BATHWATER? It ain't over yet: Smith's former boyfriend, photographer Larry Birkhead, who also claims to be her baby's father, went before another Florida judge Friday to get the ball rolling on a long, long overdue paternity investigation by enforcing a California judge's order allowing him to have DNA samples from Smith and the baby. Any paternity case may include Zsa Zsa Gabor's hub, Frederic von Anhalt, who says he may be the dad.
But Broward County Circuit Judge Lawrence Korda said he doubted he had jurisdiction, since the baby is in the Bahamas and the DNA ruling was made in California.
Birkhead's legal team say they'll go to the Bahamas Monday to request custody of 5-month-old Dannielynn. ___
CLOONEY'S SMOLDERING EYES! George Clooney, a two-time People's Sexiest Man Alive, has admitted he's had plastic surgery. Speaking to Julia Roberts Thursday night on that Oprah Winfrey Oscars special, the "Ocean's Eleven''-thru-``Thirteen'' star said, "I had my eyes done. Can you tell?" Roberts quipped: "I think it's important to look awake." ___
MIRREN'S BUTTERFLIES Mere hours separating her from the Oscars on Sunday, Helen Mirren, the front-runner to win a best-actress statuette for "The Queen,'' is experiencing pre-Oscar angst.
But even in her pain, she's worried for the public, apologizing for being in the media too much: "I worry people must be getting fed up with me," said Mirren, 61, who has already won the Golden Globe.
It'll be a grave responsibility this Oscar night, Mirren said: "I'm nervous about the Oscars because I'm representing myself, the film, my country ... and my monarch! I hope I don't make a fool of myself." | Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register. |

Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
