RATZENBERGER DONS 'DANCING' SHOES
Will America mind if Cliff Clavin cuts in?

Former "Cheers" star John Ratzenberger will join the cast of "Dancing With the Stars," ABC announced Friday.

Ratzenberger will replace "Sopranos" mobster Vincent Pastore, who bowed out of the competition earlier this week when he realized just how physically demanding his task would be.

That left a spot open for the sitcom mailman to take Edyta Sliwinksa as his partner. Although Ratzenberger only has three weeks to rehearse for the fourth season's premiere on March 19, he's looking forward to the challenge.

"He likes to cut a rug. People will be surprised," his rep tells People.

The actor wasn't really a second choice. Producers had invited him to participate earlier, but due to a schedule conflict, he wasn't able to commit at the time.

Ratzenberger's competition includes Heather Mills, Joey Fatone, Ian Ziering, Apolo Anton Ohno, Shandi Finnessey, Leeza Gibbons, Clyde Drexler, Billy Ray Cyrus, Laila Ali and Paulina Porizkova.

Ratzenberger, 59, played know-it-all Cliff Clavin on "Cheers" for 11 seasons. Although he's appeared in numerous TV shows and movies since then, he's known lately for providing voices in Pixar films, inclucing "Toy Story," "Monsters, Inc.," "Finding Nemo" and "Cars."

DREYFUSS PLAYS WIZARD IN SCI FI'S 'OZ' REMAKE
Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss isn't off to see the wizard. He IS the wizard.

The veteran actor has signed on to star in Sci Fi Channel's "Tin Man," a reimagining of L.Frank Baum's tale. He joins Zooey Deschanel and Alan Cumming in the six-hour miniseries.

Dreyfuss will portray the powerful wizard known as the Mystic Man in The Outer Zone (the O.Z.), a fantastical realm that is oppressed by dark magic.

When the young woman DG (Deschanel) is snatched up and thrust into the O.Z., she joins forces with the half-brained man Glitch (Cumming), the wolverine-like Raw who seeks courage and the emotionally scarred, heroic Cain, who was once part of the police force known as Tin Men. They journey along the Old Road to seek the help of the Mystic Man, who holds the key to revealing her destiny, which is strangely tied to the wicked Azkeadellia. During the final showdown, DG's life and the future of O.Z. itself hang in the balance.

Production on this psychedelic and twisted update will begin in April in Vancouver. Sci Fi is shooting for a December premiere.

Dreyfuss, 59, is a modern-day screen legend whose credits include "American Graffiti," "Jaws," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "The Goodbye Girl" (for which he won a best actor Oscar, "Down and Out in Beverly Hills," "The American President," "Mr. Holland's Opus" "Krippendorf's Tribe" and the recent "Poseidon."

His next film, "Suburban Girl," starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin, will be released in May.

PILOTS: SANZ IN 'BUSINESS' AT NBC
Former "Saturday Night Live" regular Horatio Sanz will see if he's ready for prime time in an NBC pilot.

Sanz has joined the comedy "Business Class," which he'll star in opposite Mark Valley. Also at NBC, veteran actor Philip Baker Hall ("Zodiac," "Mrs. Harris") and Brooke D'Orsay ("Happy Hour") have been cast in the comedy "Wildlife," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Business Class" is a single-camera show about two rival soda salesmen (Sanz and "Boston Legal's" Mark Valley) who live their lives on the road. It will be the first regular prime-time gig for Sanz, who had an eight-year run on "Saturday Night Live" beginning in 1998.

His movie credits include "School for Scoundrels," "Boat Trip" and "The New Guy."
"Wildlife" takes place at a wild-animal park. Hall, who co-stars in the Fox comedy "The Loop," has a long list of credits that includes "Boogie Nights," "The Truman Show," "The Practice" and a memorable guest spot on "Seinfeld."

D'Orsay was a regular on Fox's short-lived "Happy Hour" this season. She's also appeared in "Two and a Half Men" and "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle."

'HEROES' GETS 'SPIDEY 3' SNEAK
With great power comes ... great marketability. Or so NBC and the makers of "Spider-Man 3" are hoping.

Fans of "Heroes" will be able to geek out even more than usual on Monday, as during the broadcast Columbia Pictures will offer up a new, 60-second clip from "Spider-Man 3." The second sequel of the blockbuster movie franchise is due in theaters May 4.

The bigger catch, though, will debut online after the "Heroes" episode, which will conclude the current story arc and leave viewers with a cliffhanger for the final five episodes at season's end. Following the broadcast, NBC.com will offer a 7 ½-minute scene from "Spider-Man 3" that concludes with a cliffhanger of its own.
The clip will also be the first high-definition stream on the network's web site.

"'Heroes' and 'Spider-Man' both share a common theme: everyday people and how they deal with finding themselves in extraordinary circumstances," says Valerie Van Galder, head of domestic marketing at Columbia. "Because of that, this is a great programming marriage."

Monday's "Heroes" will provide viewers with the first look at the mysterious Linderman and Hiro (Masi Oka) possibly taking a dark turn in his effort to acquire the samurai sword he covets. It airs at 7 p.m.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
