...concerts hold a different meaning to you. Though I would hardly call myself a seasoned expert on concert-going, I have been to quite a few and have learned the hard way that all the "plans" you make for concerts end up being unnecessary, unless you want to get the most for your buck. Keep reading... Part I of my concert week is complete. I went to see My Chemical Romance on Sunday night with my young sisters and cousin. For my two youngest sisters, it was their first concert. The show was very entertaining, and there was lots to look at and dance too. We were at the same show, but the similarities end there. First up is fashion. While I was wearing something comfortable that I could stand up and dance and be comfortable in moving about (and be semi warm in) My sisters had to dress in black with My Chemical Romance plastered all over (as it is standard attire for the band). I was chastized for wearing spring green pastels. I changed into my gothic-looking sweater and then they were fine. However once we got to the concert. I saw one too many preteens dressed in skimpy and probably not very warm outfits (It turned out to be a pretty cold wait for general admission) Second. No one could eat or drink any sort of food of beverage to avoid bathroom breaks. No kidding. My sisters ended up having breakfast at midnight on our way home. I enjoyed the day's meals. Third. Standing in line! I remember I was so excited to stand in line to wait for my favorite band. I was doing it for them. I was braving the cold and the jerks in line and the off-key singing for them. That was then. Now, If I can avoid waiting in line (especially in the cold) I'm doing that instead, for me! Fourth. Standing Room Only vs. Seats hahahahahahahahahahahaha! That is what they like to call it. It's actually "Stand-If-You-Can Room Only". I got tired of fighting my way through crowds, trying to keep from being trampled and generally tossed around. My sisters were in the standing room only area. I enjoyed the show from a comfy seat and better yet, I was able to visit the ladies room when I needed to and not have to claw my way back to where I was. Earplugs. Now you know that I "am" old and was willing to wear these at the concert. I've been to one too many concerts where I ended up right in front of very large speakers. I'm sure I've got some kind of hearing loss. I wasn't up to losing more. After going through what they had to go through just to be close to the stage and see Gerard Way and Frank and Bob sweat, and be able to throw the band love notes and other stuff onto the stage. After pushing and punching other concert-goers just to keep their spots close to the stage and enduring phases of weakness from not eating all day and waiting in line in the freezing cold... I said: I told you that concerts aren't all that fun when you have to do all this. They just said: Yeah, but it's My Chemical Romance as they jumped up and down and bought band t-shirts and armbands and other stuff that cost way too much money. I guess some things are worth the trouble when you're young enough, and have the energy to do it. I know I don't. Part II of concert week coming soon...

| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
