Q: How do you suggest I go about losing weight?
I am a female, 5’4’’. I have to lose about 30-40 pounds to reach a healthy weight.
I have tried many diets and lost the weight, but it creeps back on because I get bored of the diet or get tired of the exercise. I used to spin three times a week and gave it up all together, because I could not make it to the class every week.
How much exercise should I do — and what type of exercise — to be able to lose 1-2 pounds per week and maintain the routine and weight loss efforts?

Can you suggest foods I should eat without craving for sweets?

Thanks, I need some guidelines to help me get started and become healthier.
Kisa

A: I don’t know if you should be asking me or a friggin’ therapist this question.

Asking me to set guidelines for you would be a total waste of my time.

Think about it. You’ve tried diets (which I don’t believe in), lost weight, but because you were bored, it crept back on.

Maybe, just maybe ... you decided to go back to eating like “you were going to the chair” and wanted to sit on your lazy ass instead of being consistent with an exercise program. I think that would be closer to the truth.

I’d also like to know what kept you from going to spinning class every week. Was the boogey-man waiting to steal your lunch money?

And now you want me to come up with some magical way to get you to exercise, eat sensibly, not crave sweets and lose 1-2 pounds per week? I think you should write some other personal trainer that you can bullshit.

Your problem has nothing to do with guidelines and the right program; it has everything to do with your attitude.

Change it and you will see the pounds come off.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
