Another week of "American Idol"; another highly capable performer kicked to the curb.

But before you start picketing in the streets, allow me to pose a question: Does it really matter when Stephanie Edwards received her walking papers?

Did anyone think, however Beyonce-licious she might be, that Edwards would be able to outperform Melinda Doolittle, Lakisha Jones or even Jordin Sparks down the road? It may have happened too soon, but it was bound to happen.

I've got a sneaking suspicion, though, that Steph's eviction occurred this week as a result of a questionable editing choice during Tuesday night's performance show. While Sanjaya Malakar tried his best with the Kinks' "You Really Got Me" to prove to the world that he has a pulse, the cameras kept cutting back to that sweet little crying girl. Sobby McSobberstien just couldn't hold back the emotion, and "Idol" producers couldn't keep from exploiting it.

Her crocodile tears not only assured her a seat in the finale, but it spurred a nation of similarly deluded preteens to get on the phone and vote for the walking smile who can't sing a lick. "But Sanjaya raised his game!" entertainment reporters cry out with faux shock. That doesn't change the fact that he's a Little Leaguer on a stage full of Mickey Mantles.

Chris Richardson might have the same problem as Stephanie Edwards. While he brought white hot passion in his performance of "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying," he couldn't avoid making the bottom two this week thanks to America labeling him the poor man's Blake Lewis. The women seem to swoon for Blake's beatboxy funkiness, as does Seacrest. Simon must be totally jealous.

The one redeeming quality about this week's shows? The presence of '60s singer Lulu as a coach for the female contestants.

While last week's coach Diana Ross just nodded and said things like "great" and "you'll really shine," Lulu got all up in the girls' grills and forced them to improve
"Idol" needs her around for good, and her next challenge should be to whip some sense into the ho-hum male contestants. Because if I have to watch Sanjaya, Chris Sligh and Phil Stacey do it karaoke-style one more time, I'll be sobbing. And they won't be tears of joy.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
