'Wedding' party ends early for FOX |

Never send to know for whom "Wedding Bells" tolls. It tolls for thee.
David E. Kelley's midseason offering "The Wedding Bells" never followed a traditional schedule, so it can hardly be surprising that the dramedy's premature ending may not have followed plan either.
The industry trade papers are reporting that production on "Wedding Bells" has been halted after seven episodes, spelling the end to the series, which stars Teri Polo, KaDee Strickland and Sarah Jones as a trio of sisters running a full-service wedding business.
The show's history goes as follows: Last spring, Fox picked up a pilot called "The Wedding Album," but after attempts to recast the series and then change its tone, the network pulled the plug. The desire for a nuptial-themed series remained, though, and the call went out to Kelley, who had previously worked on an ABC pilot titled "The DeMarco Affairs," about a family running a full-service wedding business. Kelley reworked that pilot and Fox ordered the new show to series, but put it in a Friday night slot that has spelled death to all of its recent occupants.
After scoring big numbers in its post-"American Idol" premiere, "Wedding Bells" has shed viewers since moving to Fridays, reaching a nadir of 4.5 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 in its most recent airing.
"While we've been pleased with the show creatively, and David's writing was first-rate, the show just didn't secure the ratings we'd hoped for," FOX said in a statement.
Fox has aired four episodes of "Wedding Bells," with three episodes remaining on the network schedule for now. | Only registered users can write comments.
