When organizing the second Colorado Celtic Music and Arts Festival, Scott Beach was seeing double.
"I think lessons learned are that having a two-day festival are just more exciting for people," said Beach, director of entertainment for the festival.
Last year's event, which Beach said drew about 3,000 people, was only one day, and not enough time to exhibit a full range of the Celtic artists and musicians in the area.
"We expect it's going to be quite mobbed," Beach said of this year's event, which will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Saint Michael's Event Center, 3110 67th Ave. "It should be a lot of fun."
Four live bands each day, a medieval Scottish village, indoor and outdoor pubs and scotch tastings are just some of the highlights, according to Beach.
"These two days are about culture," he said.
Local Celtic organizations, clans and vendors will also be there to teach people more about Scottish and Irish heritage.
Beach added that there are many Celtic descendants in the area, but you don't need to be a Celt to have fun and experience "another color of the culture wheel."
Beach said it also was important to him to make the event more family oriented. In the medieval village, there will be places for kids to get their faces painted, to have sword fights and weave kilts.
Though much of the day will be spent showcasing traditional Celtic heritage, Beach said each day will close with rock, compliments of Celtic bands Angus Mohr on Saturday and The Indulgers on Sunday.
How does it sound?
"It's bagpipes and electric guitars," he said.

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
