Last week's charitable reprieve must have lit a fire under "American Idol's" six finalists. Not one of them turned in a bad performance on Tuesday's show.

That's a modern-day miracle, considering they were limited to the Bon Jovi ouvre. But I suppose I've always underestimated Jon Bon Jovi. Like Phil Stacey, I too sang "Blaze of Glory" in the mirror when I was a child, but I didn't realize its singer would become a celebrated institution of American rock.

Speaking of Phil, he and Chris Richardson were sent home on Wednesday. I thought the other contestants were going to lose it while Phil did his last number.

And Chris and Blake revealed they're best friends (while doing a weird secret handshake) before the former's elimination.

The results show sort of felt like a tear-soaked senior banquet ... except for the half hour of Seacrest stalling tactics. Was there really a need to recap last week's "Idol Gives Back" show? I hoped I'd never have to see that Celine Dion-Elvis thing again.

A few things I did want to see again from Bon Jovi night:

•• Jordin Sparks, stealing the judges' thunder by becoming her own harshest critic. What she did after a shaky-but-not-terrible "Livin' on a a Prayer" was priceless. She's the Kelly Clarkson of this season.

•• Melinda Doolittle, stepping outside her comfort zone on "Have a Nice Day." The way she turned her back to the audience and swished her hair at the end of the song proved that she has a little diva in her. That can never be a bad thing on "Idol." Unless you're Katharine McPhee.

•• LaKisha Jones, finally demonstrating that she has potential for brilliance on "This Ain't A Love Song." I got chills. They were multiplyin'.

•• Blake Lewis, making Jon Bon Jovi look like a curmudgeon for expressing doubt about a beatbox-heavy version of "You Give Love A Bad Name." The singing, the reggae-ish beat, the sound effects at the beginning ... classic Blake. He may be the one to beat, folks.

So that's our final four. At times, we didn't think we'd ever get to this point. But before we go on, how about another recap? No?

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
