In keeping with town tradition, Memorial Day weekend in Windsor will once again be home to Pelican Fest, a three-day outdoor festival featuring a golf tournament, a strongman competition and hot air balloon rides.

New to the festivities this year are a rock climbing wall, a bungee trampoline and an inflatable slide.

If hitting the links and giving your best Governator impression aren’t your thing, there will also be free concerts Friday through Sunday. Headlining band, Firefall, will play classic rock Friday night while Irish rock band, The Indulgers, will round out the performances on Sunday evening.

Also featured over the long weekend is the Northern Colorado Regional Rocky Mountain State Games.

The annual competition has been host to amateur athletes of all ages and skill levels since 2002, but will be introduced  to the northern Colorado area for the first time this year at the third annual gathering in Windsor.

Events include a 5K Run/Walk, pentathlon, triathlon, fencing, golf, rowing, rugby, tennis, 3-on-3 basketball, volleyball and wrestling.

In conjunction with Pelican Fest events like the Beer Garden, Scottish Games and X-treme martial arts, demonstrations on how to play Bocce Ball, Horseshoes and Robot Soccer will also take place throughout the day.

Colorado residents, students, veterans and seniors are invited to compete, volunteer or just watch.

There will be live music during the day: On Saturday, Peekfreenze will play from 11 a.m.- 2p.m. and Redline from 2:30-5:30 p.m. On Sunday, Peekfreenze is on from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and the Indulgers from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

For more information on registration for the games, visit Qdoba restaurants or the State Games of America Web site at www.state games.org.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
