Road 34 is known around Fort Collins for its bikes, beers and lines that reach the sidewalk. Now let it be known that it’s a place you can go to help those in need, too. Co-owner Will Overbagh organized a benefit concert for the Massey Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute in Richmond, Va.
The event is in honor of Will’s mother, Connie, who was treated at the center 20 years ago before dying from cancer.
“It’s not just about me or my mom,” he said in a press release. “It’s about doing something to raise a bunch of money.”
With an expected donation of $3,000-$5,000 based on capacity, Will and partner Willy Owens will not pocket any of the proceeds for the bike shop/bar.
“Three dollars will go to the band and $5 will go to the center,” Will said. “The band’s got to get paid too, but Road 34 doesn’t make anything. We’re just hoping for a packed house.”
Doors open at 9 p.m. for the 21 and older show and headliners, the Andreas Kapsalis Trio, will take the stage at 10 p.m.
“They’re an amazing progressive jazz trio,” Will said. “We’re excited to have them back.”
Tickets are $8 at the door and include a raffle ticket for prizes including a Jagermeister machine, a New Belgium Brewery cruiser bike and other items.
What it comes down to, Will said, is some great music for a great cause.
“It’s a great opportunity to win some kick-ass prizes and have a good time,” he said.

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
