Where to Retire Magazine recently announced their "America's 100 Best Master-Planned Communities" and Water Valley in Windsor, not only made the list, but also was the only community in Colorado to be included.
Karen Northridge, publisher of Where to Retire, sent a letter and plaque to Martin Lind, owner/developer of Water Valley, to notify him of the designation. In the letter Karen said, "During a nine-month selection process, our editors reviewed several hundred candidates across the country. Your community is among an elite group of developments that offer today's retirees a well-rounded, active lifestyle."
Water Valley residents Bo and Sandra Trawick were quoted in the magazine's article featuring the top 100 communities.
"It's a good, safe area. We can see the water, the golf course and the mountains. It's beautiful," said Bo Trawick. "My wife teaches Pilates, and we both work out every morning."
The first resident moved into Water Valley in 1996 and today there are over 1,000 residences. Homes range in price from the mid $100,000s to more than $2 million and homebuyers can find a wide range of residential product including condominiums, patio homes, townhomes, single family homes, beach front luxury residences, five lakes, miles of trails and beaches, an 18-hole and 9-hole golf course and a clubhouse and swimming pool.
The 2008 opening of the Good Samaritan Senior Living Resort and its five-story campus is also in construction at Water Valley.
Where to Retire magazine is published out of Houston, Texas, and has a national distribution of 220,000 six times a year. It tells its readers who's moving where, and why. It goes beyond well-known, popular sun-belt spots, reaching across the country to spotlight smaller towns, four-season locations and undiscovered havens with lower costs of living. | Only registered users can write comments. | | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!

| | My name is Michelle Turley and I'm 28 years old. I live in Severance with my hubbie, Brandon. We have 2 dogs and a cat. We enjoy camping, four-wheeling, and just being in the mountains. I like to cook, clean (go figure), flea market, and play poker. I have so much to say about poker... | | |
