When we go out on a limb, we're channeling the charismatic, confident Lion. The alternative is to remain small, which the King of the Jungle would never allow! Today's new moon in Leo blesses humankind with irrepressible optimism, inclinations toward play and personal image makeovers. Trust your inherent creative potential. Then play!

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Go solo wherever possible. Decisions made by committee somehow produce fewer results than any single person in the group could have accomplished on his or her own initiative.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Regret really is a futile use of mind power, especially now, when mistakes are so interesting, they almost seem like art. Perhaps they are. Put the right frame around them and see.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). It's a fine time to toss out the instructions and see what life is like when you shoot from the hip. If you get too much information on the subject, you lose your common sense.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You're thinking things you've thought before. The only difference is that now you have the power to do something about it. By the afternoon, you probably will have.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You're held captive by fascinating conversation. You may listen much more than you talk, which is a key contribution. What is said wouldn't have been said if not for your listening.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Aug. 12). This year is a rush of thrilling experience, starting with a wave of social activity over the next three weeks. You're meeting people with whom you relate brilliantly. In October, you honor what you once overlooked, bringing a shower of blessings unto yourself. Libra and Capricorn people are winning additions to your support system. Your lucky numbers are: 5, 7, 14, 30 and 50.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You're not alone in your idealistic point of view. You share the same dream for humanity as a universal brother and sisterhood of humans. Tonight, tell your story -- you have an attentive audience.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Challenge yourself to think bigger. If your plan is too small, it won't have enough magic to inspire your team. And if you don't even need a team to accomplish your goal, then it's for sure too small!

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). The spirit in which a thing is given determines how it will be received. This is especially good news if you have more time than money. Place your whole intention and goodwill into your contribution.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Much will be accomplished at your request. That is, unless you withhold your requests, in which case nothing is accomplished. So say what you want! The spoils go to those bold enough to ask.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). It seems you have only half of the information you need. It's probably better this way. You have to fill in the blanks with your intuition. Believe the best of someone, and the best will emerge.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You'd love to move as your fellow tribesmen are moving, and yet something inside you just won't dance to that beat. So don't. Find your own glorious groove.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You meet characters so strange, it's like you fell down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. You could even fall in love with one of them. Couples bond when they face a new adventure together.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: The new moon in Leo is an invitation to Carnival, and when you put on your look-at-me Lion duds, you've upped the ante for us -- celebrants of your self-expression. We salute you because you've arrived, in all your glory. When your creative muse shouts "hip-hip-hooray," when your inner fashion designer screams excitedly, "Ooh, imagine all the things we can create," you've entered into the spirit of play. Leo is an image-maker (think Madonna or Mick Jagger), but not a show-off -- the image always serves the will. Showmanship is a reflection of our mighty will; our signature impression, the direct outworking of fiercely creative potential. Yes, I said fierce. Have you ever seen a Lion threatened? It takes a ton of self-esteem, self-respect and fearlessness to stay onstage and shake it till you make it. And this is what these sun-in-Leo times give to us in spades. So get ready. You could second-guess your outfit, but why? That would only make you late for the party. Instead, pull energy from your solar plexus (the self-esteem energy center at your belly) and project confidence. All week, put it on and own it. Let the world appreciate fabulous and come-as-you-are you.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: In Hollywood, girls grow up fast. Dominique Swain played the ultimate fast girl in the movie "Lolita," the film adaptation of the classic novel. In real life Swain's bashful beauty doesn't hide her command -- this tough and tender Leo can hold her own. After last year's maturing Saturn return, it's a brand new year for Swain. Her choices will demonstrate creative leadership.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
