Loveland trio wins battle of the bands |

Loveland band LoveBox won last week’s 8th annual Battle of the Bands at the Hammond Amphitheater in Loveland.
The trio of 19-year-old bassist and vocalist Alan Jlavacek, 17-year-old drummer Eric Hlavacek and 21-year-old guitarist Travis Mason bested 10 other bands from Loveland, Berthoud, Fort Collins and Centennial.
By winning the competition, LoveBox gets studio recording time from Clear Gravy Productions in Frederick and $100. It was LoveBox’s fourth appearance in the competition put on by the Loveland Museum/Gallery. The trio was runner up in 2005.
Second place went to rock-rap group Smoke Magnet, also from Loveland. The Common Rejection, a punk band made up of Thompson Valley High School students, was third and Jetson Saddle was fourth.
Other competing bands included Utopians, Ride Your Bike, Comic Mischief, Flesh on Fire, Dublin Luck and The Courage Brigade!
Bands were judged by a four-member panel and performed 20-minute sets. | Only registered users can write comments.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
