Ellen Woodbury is used to directing the movement of animated animals. She did that for 20 years as a Walt Disney feature editor. Woodbury worked on and animated on all the contemporary classics from “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Aladdin” to “Chicken Little.”
She was a Directing Animator on several features and was responsible for the creation and animation of Pegasus the flying horse in “Hercules” and Zazu the bird in “The Lion King,” among others.
Woodbury was well-known in the animation industry for her ability to animate animals. She has brought this talent to her stone figures and carves stylized animals.
She also applies principles of animated movement and design to her stone figures. “I always go for a strong line of action through the pose, and a strong silhouette for instant readability,” Woodbury said in a press release.
She resigned her position at Disney and moved to Loveland to pursue a career as an independent sculptor. She took a course in stone sculpting at the Loveland Museum and fell in love with carving stone.
“I love the colors, patterns and textures in stone, and the fact that it was formed over millions of years from primordial muck,” Woodbury said. “Sculpting in stone is like walking a fine line between creation and destruction — one false move with a tool and you could suddenly have two stones!
“I find stone to be a greater challenge than animation because there is no erasing and you can’t shoot a test. Once you’ve cut it off, it gone,” she said.

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
