While you can still get in a game of “beach” volleyball at the Yukon in north Loveland, you might have to find a different venue to see some of the scheduled bands playing the northern Colorado hot-spot.

Because of some business and personality conflicts between the Yukon’s partners and business associates, many scheduled shows have been cancelled.

And because no one wants to talk about it, it’s not clear what exactly is happening at the venue, which for years was called the White Buffalo. As the Yukon, it had become one of the more popular music venues in the region, drawing classic rock acts such as Stephen Pearcy, lead singer of RATT, Winger, Firehouse, Slaughter and L.A. Guns.

It also is a regular home to local rock acts like Open Fire, which is scheduled to play Saturday night.

Three of the partners contacted by NEXTnc did not want to discuss the matter, citing their desire to keep things civil. Additionally, they did not want the problems they are trying to work out from disrupting events the Yukon has scheduled and will schedule in the future.

They also said they didn’t want to draw negative attention to their other business prospects in the northern Colorado.

In late July, Morris Beegle of Hapi Skratch Productions, which booked many of the acts at the Yukon, sent out an e-mail that said, in part, “As of today, three of the four partners at the Yukon are no longer there and all of the dates that were booked have been cancelled. ... This whole situation stinks and the future of live music at the Yukon is unknown.”

Not all events at the Yukon, however, have been cancelled. A source who asked to remain anonymous said the Yukon is trying to bring some big-name, national bands to the venue in addition to the great local bands from the area.

On the Yukon’s Web site, theyukonevents.com, tickets for shows on Sept. 14-15 and Oct. 11-12 are available. The Jimmie’s Chicken Shack show for Sept. 22 is still listed on the site’s calendar, as well.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
