In the two years since the end of her her nine-year run on "Everybody Loves Raymond," Patricia Heaton almost gave up hope of working in TV comedy again.

"There was a whole year or two where very few multiple-camera sitcoms were being picked up, and where I am right now in my life with my four children, I just can't work the long hours that are required by a single-camera show," Heaton told the New York Daily News. "But I was in New York doing a play last winter and the script (for "Back to You") came across my desk, and it was so good."

"Back to You," premiering Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox, stars Heaton as Kelly Carr and Kelsey Grammer as Chuck Darling, a pair of local news anchors with a tenuous relationship.

"I love the relationship between Kelly and Chuck," said Heaton. "They're really at loggerheads a lot and fighting, but they're very similar, so I think there's an attraction there."

To prepare for the role, Heaton watched "Anchorman" a couple of times and found YouTube to be a major source of inspiration.

"I did YouTube some different local anchors and just watched to sort of get the gist of what's going on outside of the national networks and how people look," said Heaton. "There's a certain way that anchors speak. There's a musicality to the way they do their (adopting her anchor tone) 'Top stories tonight.' There's just sort of inflections that they use and the way they nod their head to kind of punctuate a sentence."

Heaton says after "Raymond" ended, she was hoping to do another comedy because "it's fast and the response is immediate." Those are also reasons why she wanted to stick with the multi-camera shooting format.

"All of us who work in this format understand that this is the only type (of TV) where you get the laugh-out-loud humor," said Heaton. "It's like being in a theater - the audience is sharing the experience with the actors, whereas single-camera is very kind of private and smaller moments. Often, when I watch a single-camera show, I might think it's funny, but I rarely laugh out loud.

"Look, we all have stressful lives, and it's not like we're saving the world or curing cancer or doing brain surgery," she added, "but there is something to be said about giving people a half-hour of a little joy."

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
