Without a doubt, we’re a region that loves the outdoors. You can’t look at the peaks along the Front Range (soon to be snowcapped), and not be taken by the allure and majesty of the Rockies.
And, based on the number of bands that have formed here, or play here frequently, that play bluegrass, it’s a favorite musical genre in the region.
So the folks at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch near Lyons have opened the Wildflower Pavilion, a rustic venue that celebrates the outdoors and will be home to some the best bluegrass acts around. The Pavilion opens a decade after the collapse of the Wildflower Theater.
The building features windows behind and above the stage that look out onto the St. Vrain River and the cliffs above it.
Here’s a schedule of upcoming concerts: • Adam Aijala and Ben Kaufmann (of Yonder Mountain String Band) 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 $20
• Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers with Mozella 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 $15
• Mindy Smith 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 $20
• Mountain Heart 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 $20
• Michelle Shocked 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 $20
All shows are general admission and free parking is on site. Beer, wine and other beverages will be sold.
For tickets call 303.823.0848 or go to bluegrass.com. For more information on the Pavilion or the Wildflower concert series, go online to: www.wildflowerpavilion.com. | Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register. |

| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
