Although Jaime Ingrisano is really excited about the event she and Sara Velencich cooked up for the University of Northern Colorado, she gets a little frustrated at times.

The two resident assistants at Harrison Hall, after all, want to break the world record for the number of people participating in a pillow fight.

No, not THAT kind of pillow fight.

“It’s been so hard to find clip art for this for posters and stuff,” Ingrisano said. “You Google ‘pillow fight,’ and, well...”

OK, so let’s set the record straight. Everyone, not just sorority girls wearing teddies, are welcome to participate in the pillow fight as a way to celebrate Homecoming Week at UNC. Teddies, in fact, are discouraged, although sorority girls aren’t. They’re going to need a lot of people. The current record is 3,648 held by SUNY Albany. But Albany had only 4,000 more students than UNC, so Ingrisano thinks it’s possible.

To entice students to come out, or anyone, really, they’re bringing a band, The Forecast, just signed to Victory Records, and the band hopes to use footage from the pillow fight for its video. Once you sign a waiver saying you won’t sue if you’re hit a little too hard with a pillow, you can fight with the band and then listen to them.

“The band wanted to know if they could pillow fight with us,” Ingrisano said, “and I said sure, that was four more people to help us break the record.”

The benefit is free, but a $1 donation will help Miles4Smiles, a UNC-founded charity that funds children’s cancer research. Kids can come if their parents sign waivers for them.

The pillow fight should last 10 minutes, unless things really get going, and then the concert will start.

Despite the slight problems with marketing, Ingrisano has high hopes for the event.
“I say I’m excited a lot, but that’s because I am,” she said. “I think about it 24/7, and it’s all I talk about.”

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
