"AMERICAN MASTERS: GOOD OL' CHARLES SCHULZ" — You would think that life would be pure bliss for a man who presided over a billion-dollar cartoon world and coined the phrase "Happiness is a warm puppy." But this nuanced and sometimes startling portrait reveals that the "Peanuts" creator spent much of his life struggling with self-doubt, insecurity and personal isolation. Before dying at the age of 77 in 2000, Schulz spent nearly 50 years drawing upon the adventures of Charlie Brown, Snoopy and company, redefining the comic art form in the process. Along the way, many of Schulz's own trials and tribulations were reflected in his characters on a daily basis. "Good Ol' Charles Schulz" includes excerpts from classic `Peanuts' television specials, archival footage, personal photos and home movies. 9 p.m. Monday, PBS.

OTHER BETS:
SUNDAY: Seems that an insect crucial to our food supply and economy is disappearing in droves. "Silence of the Bees," the latest installment of Nature, explores possible reasons for the decline in the honeybee population and what could happen if the problem isn't solved. 8 p.m., PBS.
SUNDAY: On a new episode of "Shark," Sebastian takes an offbeat approach to a case, choosing to prosecute the coach of an ultimate fighting team for the deaths of three fighters who took their own lives after the coach prodded them to take steroids. 10 p.m., CBS.
MONDAY: Turns out that our lovable nerd in "Chuck" isn't alone. Tonight, he meets a fellow agent who is leading a similar life. He's a gadget whiz, whose brain makes him a national security asset and a dangerous liability. Chuck is torn between turning him in or helping him escape his handlers. 8 p.m., NBC.
TUESDAY: It's quickly becoming apparent that veteran actor Ray Wise, who plays the devil, is the best thing about "Reaper." The latest episode has the Prince of Darkness in a state of depression because it's Halloween and everyone if making fun of him. We figure he'll take it out on Sam. 9 p.m., The CW.
TUESDAY: The edgy plastic surgery drama "Nip/Tuck" gets a drastic makeover in its fifth season as the action moves to Beverly Hills, where Christian and Sean struggle to rebuild McNamara/Troy from the ground up. Guest stars in the opener include Oliver Platt, Bradley Cooper and Daphne Zuniga. 10 p.m., FX.
WEDNESDAY: Mandy Patinkin, we hardly knew you. Tonight, Joe Mantegna ("Joan Arcadia") joins the cast of "Criminal Minds." He plays David Rossi, an old-school style agent who comes out of retirement to replace Gideon as the head of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. No doubt, he'll ruffle a few feathers along the way. 9 p.m., CBS.
WEDNESDAY: Halloween seems like as good a time as any to launch a show called "Monsterquest." The series puts science and technology to use as it explores legendary tales such as the one tonight about a Loch Ness-type creature purported to be lurking in Lake Champlain. 10 p.m., History Channel.
THURSDAY: Karen (Rashida Jones) returns to "The Office" and she's causing problems for the boss. When she tries to lure Stanley away from the Scranton branch, Michael fights back with his secret weapon: Jim, the guy who left her for Pam. 9 p.m., NBC.
THURSDAY: "To Die in Jerusalem" is a poignant documentary that looks at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the eyes of two mothers who lost their daughters in one deadly act of violence — a suicide bombing in a Jerusalem market in 2001. 9 p.m., HBO.
FRIDAY: Who says you can't go home again? On "Friday Night Lights," Eric Taylor returns to Dillon to take back his job as Panthers head coach. But it won't be an easy transition for Eric, who finds himself dealing with a team in turmoil, thanks to the conflict between Matt and Smash. 9 p.m., NBC.
SATURDAY: Some fans thought Ralphie May was robbed when he didn't win on the initial run of "Last Comic Standing." Still, he's done all right for himself. Tonight he presides over his own standup special, "Ralphie May: Prime Cut." 10 p.m., Comedy Central. ___

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | Hola Amigos! I'm Sandra. I like to believe that people are 70 percent good and 30 percent dumb. I'm stickin to that story. Reading this blog might make you want to be good, but probably just dumb. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!

| | Ms. Giles currently lives in Colorado where she stars in her own private reality show. She writes aphoristic accounts of her life, taken completely out of context, and embellished with characters and situations disguised to resemble something close to interesting. | |
