Jazz Festival '08 set for April |

The University of Northern Colorado/Greeley Jazz Festival has announced its lineup for next year.
The festival—the largest event of its kind in the nation and the longest-running jazz festival in Colorado—will be April 24-26, 2008.
It’s the 38th annual festival.
Here’s a schedule for the main stage:
April 24 Take 6 — Ten-time Grammy award winning a capella group that specializes in gospel, jazz, pop and R&B. www.take6.com
Northern Colorado Voices — Flagship ensemble of UNC’s vocal jazz program. www.uncjazz.com
April 25 Slide Hampton — Grammy award-winning arranger/trombonist. www.slidehampton.com
UNC Jazz Lab Band — University’s top student jazz ensemble. www.uncjazz.com
Ron Carter — Influential jazz bassist who has performed with Miles Davis Quintet, Gill Evans, B.B. King and more. www.roncarterbass.com
Jim Hall — Composer and arranger, described by The New Yorker as “the reigning master of jazz guitar.” www.jimhallmusic.com
April 26 Chris Potter’s Underground — Grammy-nominated saxophonist will perform with contemporary jazz group. www.chrispottermusic.com
Jazz Festival All-Star Band — Festival’s big band in residence. To be conducted by Gene Aitken, UNC professor emeritus and former director of jazz studies.
Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave. in Greeley. Tickets are $22-$35 and will be available beginning Dec. 1. Call 800.315.2787 or 356.5000, or go online to www.ucstars.com.
In addition to the main-stage concerts, there will be hundreds of hours of educational activities plus late-night jazz sessions.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
