Mekhi Phifer, who plays Dr. Greg Pratt on "ER," was at real-life hospital himself recently.
The actor and his fiancee, Oni Souratha, welcomed their first child together Tuesday morning in Los Angeles, reports People.
The boy, Mekhi Thira Phifer, weighed 5 lbs., 4 oz. at birth.
"We are really happy and excited," says the couple. "He is beautiful."
Phifer already has an 8-year-old son, Omikaye, from his previous marriage to actress Malinda Williams.
Phifer, 32, also had a recurring role on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and won the fourth season of "Celebrity Poker Showdown." His film credits include "Soul Food," "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer," "O," "8 Mile," "Honey" and "Dawn of the Dead." | Only registered users can write comments.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
