Put on your boogie, your boogie shoes.
Let’s dance, let’s shout, shake your body down to the ground.
And ...
Well, enough disco and post-disco references. Just get ready to dance.
It’s time for the 19th annual Big Band Boogie Ball, one of the more popular events in Weld County throughout the years.
The ball is sponsored by the Greeley Central Music Department and the Big Band Boogie Ball Committee (which makes sense that a committee called that would sponsor an event of the same name).
What makes this event so cool, all you hip cats, is that there are dance lessons from 6:30-7:30 p.m., an hour before the event gets hopping on Friday, Feb. 15, at the University of Northern Colorado Ballroom, 20th Street and 11th Avenue in Greeley.
Among the groups scheduled to play at the ball are Central’s Jazz Ensembles I and II, the Chappelow Jazz Ensemble and the Brentwood Jazz Ensemble. Selected vocal soloists from Central’s Concert Choir will also be featured throughout the evening. Central’s Waltz Orchestra will provide, what else, a waltz set. The evening will conclude with a guest appearance by Kream of the Krop Big Swing Band.
A silent auction in the ballroom lobby will run from 6:30-10 p.m. and will include a variety of goods donated by Greeley businesses and Central families.
Proceeds from the ball — which costs $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors — will go to the Central music department to underwrite music trips, guest artist fees, music lessons and scholarships. Call Central at 348.5085 or the Music Depot, 352.3380, 915 16th St. in Greeley, for tickets.

| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
