“Cabaret,” the Tony-award winning musical set in Berlin in the 1930s, is the latest production by the University of Northern Colorado’s college of performing and visual arts.
It is a bit risqué with adult language and situations, but the musical won eight Tony Awards in 1967 and four more in 1998.
The musical chronicles the meeting of writer Cliff Bradshaw with Sally Bowles, an English cabaret dancer who entertains at the infamous Kit-Kat Club. There are a parade of colorful characters at the club, including a rich German politician, an elderly Jewish fruit vendor and, of course, the all-knowing, all-seeing Master of Ceremonies.
The plot is unveiled through a manuscript written by Bradsahw and shared with prisoners in a concentration camp.
“As the prisoners escape into the writings of the world of Clifford Bradshaw and his Berlin experiences, they soon figure out where his story is leading and how it will end,” director and choreographer John Leonard said.
The production stars some of UNC’s veteran musical theater actors, including Brian Scott, Josh Buscher, McKayla Marso, James May and Heather Doris.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
