Experimental indie rock band Finn Riggins will come to The Beetle in Greeley on Friday.
The show is part of a nine-week, 30-state national tour by the band to promote its debut album, “A Soldier, A Saint, An Ocean Explorer.”
The trio of Cameron Bouiss on the drums, Eric Gilbert on keyboards and vocals, and Lisa Simpson on guitar and vocals, met while playing with different bands in Moscow, Idaho.
The band formed when they relocated to Sun Valley, Idaho.
Finn Riggins incorporates an eclectic mix of experimental indie rock along with some post punk tendencies, and incorporates an unconventional yet fun sound.
“We tend to create from a pretty fresh angle and without a lot of preconceptions in regards to genre or style of music,” Gilbert said. “We like to touch on serious subject matter, but also like to keep it fun. We try to maintain tension between the dark and light aspects of life.”
The main reason that Finn Riggins is returning to play The Beetle in Greeley has to do with the great response they received when they played with band Man the Moon at the end of their last East Coast tour in mid-October.
The show at The Beetle is one of their first dates on this tour, which will be one of the longest the trio has undertaken. Yet Gilbert doesn’t expect much fatigue from nine weeks on the road.
“It’s a small dynamic,” Gilbert said. “In terms of keeping things together, the trio is efficient in the musical and personality realm.”

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
