Watch video of lonelygirl15 here.
For Internet geeks, she was too good to be true: A beautiful recluse with a nerdy streak. And, alas, Lonelygirl15 wasn't true.

Days after being revealed as the face behind the online phenomenon "Bree," actress Jessica Lee Rose spoke for the first time on Thursday. She's not home-schooled and prim like her alter-ego; she lives with her boyfriend. She's not a Web head — before all this, she hadn't even known the site that propelled her to fame.

"In the beginning I was very unclear as to what we were doing. ... I wasn't familiar with YouTube, I didn't know what the community was like," she said. "I had never watched a blog until they told me about it and then I started watching other people and I started to really get into their blogs, too."

At 19, Rose is three years older than her online character. She got the part after answering an ad on Craigslist.

Bree, it turns out, was a fantasy created by three 20-something men.

___

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME

So who is Rose, unscripted?

The actress, who spent time in New Zealand growing up, moved to Los Angeles from Maryland in 2005 and studied acting at the New York Film Academy.

She said she does lend parts of herself to the character. She would memorize much of the script, then improvise.

"I'm allowed to do a lot of ad-lib and improv," Rose said. "I do all my little goofy faces and little weird mannerisms, that's all part of Jessica as well as Bree."

She was dubious when she was offered the part. And she's said she's not used to the kind of attention she has received. YouTube said more than More than 2.3 million people watched Lonelygirl15 videos.

Life has gotten a "little bit crazy," she said. "I'm trying to deal with it right now."

___

CAN THE PHENOMENON CONTINE?

Rose was identified by amateur sleuths who began to doubt the videos that appeared on YouTube and MySpace. She was too wholesome. Too sheltered. Too hot.

The three creators of Lonelygirl15 — Miles Beckett, 28; Mesh Flinders, 26; and Greg Goodfried, 27 — went public this week after a public outing and say their intention was to use confessional video blogs to tell a new kind of story. They created fake fan sites to help create a stir.

When asked about future plans for their show, the trio said in unison, "Stay tuned."

Rose doesn't have an agent, but the three creators have representation and have switched to Revver, a video sharing site that splits the revenue from ads inserted in videos with content creators.

Rose and the creators say they plan to continue producing the show — and a new episode was posted Wednesday night. The creators say they also hope fans will create their own videos with their own character streams and story lines.

"The producers and director said it's kind of an ongoing thing depending on the audience," Rose said. "When they want to finish it, I'll finish it, too."

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
