Page 5 of 7 PARKING STILL ISSUE AT MISHAWAKA Robin Jones, owner of the Mishawaka Amphitheatre, will probably still be caught between bumpers over the parking issue for another summer. The venue, a handful of miles up from the mouth of the Poudre Canyon, which is at the intersection of Colo. 14 and U.S. 287, has been plagued with parking problems for several years. And while Jones has considered several possible solutions, he has yet been given the green light for any. “I’m still in the process of working with the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Forest Service,” Jones said. “I’m working on numerous alternatives, but this year cars can be parked on one side of the road and people will walk on the other side.” Mishawaka’s capacity is 908 people and the current lot has 175 spots. Parking on the street is well marked and is restricted between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. The Colorado State Patrol and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office keeps a calendar of events and sends extra cars up the canyon during major events. “Most people usually go ahead and move after they are told they can’t park there,” Colorado State Patrol Trooper Matt Koster said. Violators could however incur a $18.60 fine. “Ticketing is one thing, but if deemed a hazard by CDOT, they can be towed at the owners expense,” Koster said. For now, Koster recommends carpooling to avoid congestion. Jones said he is looking at putting a bridge in and having parking on the other side of the river. He said the problem came to the forefront two years ago when an outside promoter had events that drew more than the venue’s capacity. “We are strictly holding to our capacity and working on getting a parking lot,” Jones said. But officials from the county would like to see quicker results. “He is not taking any steps to deal with the parking issues we are faced with every year,” said Larry Timm, planning director for the county. “I don’t think he has identified any real solution that we are aware of. He ought to find a piece of property down below the canyon and have a shuttle go back and forth, but we have not heard from him.” Last year Jones applied for a special-event permit for parking behind Columbine Lodge, but was denied because the land didn’t meet the guidelines under county code. “We think he is trying to put 15 pounds in a five-pound bag,” Timm said. “He’s using the venue in a manner far past his capacity. He has two choices, reduce the size of events or find a parking solution. It’s kind of up to him. Until he does, it’s going to be frustrating to everybody.”

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
