It was announced Wednesday that Mel Brooks is bringing a new version of his spoof of "Star Wars" and other sci-fi films to television in cartoon form.
"Spaceballs: The Animated Series" will air on the G4 television network beginning next fall.
The 1987 film starred Brooks, Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman and John Candy. The new animated version will poke fun at blockbuster movies, reality TV, politics and pop culture.
Brooks, 80, will write the pilot episode and voice two of the show's characters.
"Spaceballs: The Animated Series" is the result of a partnership among the G4 network, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Brooksfilms Ltd. and Berliner Film Companie GmbH.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
