 You’ve seen the funky building slowly go up as you’ve driven in downtown Denver.
You’ve wondered to yourself: “What is that? And is that what it’s supposed to look like?”
Wonder no more.
The latest addition to the Denver landscape — with it’s odd angles and psychedelic look — is ready for closer public inspection.
Fitting that it’s the new wing on the Denver Art Museum.
The Frederic C. Hamilton Building, built by a $62.5 million bond approved by voters in 1999, will open Saturday, Oct. 7. Admission will be free Saturday and Sunday.
The 146,000-square-foot addition to the museum was designed by architact Daniel Libeskind and will include nearly 50,000 square feet of new gallery space, including three traveling exhibition venues, art storage and a 285-seat auditorium. The addition, along with the North buildings, brings the museum complex up to 350,000 square feet. | Only registered users can write comments.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
