Walking into the cozy, vintage Carousel Dinner Theatre is so inviting, it almost makes you feel at home.

Almost, except for that fact that there will be naked men on stage here, which is exactly what happens in “The Full Monty,” opening Friday, Oct. 6.

More than just a male strip show, “The Full Monty” is a story about friends who are trying to keep their lives intact. Real-life experiences bring the characters in this production together, making them loveably realistic.

You’ve probably seen the movie, which is set in an industrial city in England. The Carousel Dinner Theatre’s production is set in the States.

When faced with unemployment, workers at a Buffalo, N.Y, steel mill band together to coordinate a sexy, bare-all dance to make some money.

Jerry, played by Jered Tanner, is the lead character who must continue making child support payments despite losing his job at the steel mill. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep his son, but he wants to have pride in whatever it is that he does do.
Dave, played by Scott Rathbun, is a bigger guy with physical insecurities.

His wife, Georgie, played by Kimberly Tedder-Hernandez, sings to him that it doesn’t matter. “You rule my world,” she croons.

Scott Wright came on board last year as the artistic director at the Carousel Dinner Theater, and he stayed for the entire season. “The Full Monty” is his first show this year, and he’s acting as both choreographer and director.

“The most challenging part for the actors is being secure in their bodies,” Wright says. “For them to actually get down to their skivvies in front of everyone.” The final number is their big performance, so it’s good for the actors to hype themselves up as the characters each night.

The audience is kept in stitches throughout the musical with the cast’s gut-busting antics and excellent repartee.

“Come to have a good time, a fun night out where you can sit back and laugh a lot,” Wright said.

Split your pants while the guys take theirs off at the Carousel Dinner Theatre.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
