Although music legend Ray Charles is gone, his rhythm and blues lives on in a musical.

“I Can’t Stop Loving You,” which features the music of Ray Charles, will play in both Fort Collins and Greeley.

During his musical career, Charles won 17 Grammy Awards. His music spoke to fans of all ages and spanned generations. His last album, “Genius Loves Company,” debuted after his death in 2005 and was his best seller.

Unlike recent tributes to Charles, including the 2004 movie “Ray” starring Jamie Foxx, this production focuses more on Charles’ music than his life.

For fans of Broadway-type productions ,“I Can’t Stop Loving You” offers a brand new experience.

“Nobody has seen it before, it isn’t like ‘Annie’ or ‘Cats’ where people have seen it several times. ‘I Can’t Stop Loving You,’ opened in London and went right to bus tours across the United States, that’s how we were able to book them,” said Mark Breimhorst, the director of the Union Colony Civic Center.

The show is composed of Broadway singers and dancers performing with a live orchestra. Among the featured songs are “Hit the Road Jack,” “You Don’t Know Me,” “Georgia on my Mind,” “Shake a Tail Feather,” “What’d I Say” and “Bye Bye Love." Throughout the two hour performance audience members will experience all types of music including country, gospel, rhythm and blues and rock ‘n’ roll.
The performance was choreographed by Gary Lloyd, who has worked with many popular artists like Pink, Robbie Williams and Kelly Clarkson.

As for Breimhorst, he hopes that fans will agree with critics about the performance.
“It has just gotten great reviews. I would encourage people to come out and see it if they like Broadway or Ray Charles,” Breimhorst said.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
