Those looking for a chance to see some live music should check out “Stop the Music Scene, Act One” from 7:30-11 p.m. May 29 at The Bean Cycle/Matter Bookstore in Fort Collins.
The coffee house is at 144 N. College Ave.
The featured performers are Paleo, Johanna Kunin and Pater Noster Machine from Fort Collins.
Paleo is a blues-goth songwriter from Chicago whose full-length debut “Misery Missouri” has been praised for its lo-fi moods akin to Neutral Milk Hotel and the Microphones.
Kunin, from Seattle, is noted for her unique voice, serious piano hands and odd but interesting art-pop songs. Her first full-length CD, “Clouds Electric,” was produced by Tucker Martine (Mudhoney, Laura Veirs) and features the likes of Matt Chamberlain (Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Morrissey) and Eyvind Kang who did the strings for Blonde Redhead.
Pater Noster Machine provide ambient electronic textures which are improvised for movie images.
They will be showcasing an excerpt from the soundtrack “Metroplis”. They will also be playing an electronic sequence for the psychedelic trip that is Stanley Kubric’s “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
