 Q. My soon-to-be mother-in-law is sticking her nose where it shouldn’t be when it comes to planning my wedding. My fiancé is the consummate momma’s boy, so he won’t say boo to his mother even though he knows how frustrated I am. I’m worried that I’m seeing the future. Will my man ever put me before his mother?
JENNIFER: I’m worried that you’re seeing the future, too! You’re going to have to put your foot down and let him know that he needs to be a man and stand up to mom! At the same time, mom needs to realize that she surrenders some of her rights when you two say “I do.” She is no longer going to be the primary woman in his life.
Your wedding is exactly that — yours — so don’t let her take over. Force your man to grow up now, because if you don’t, you may forever pay the price!
JON: He won’t. He’ll always be a momma’s boy and if you try to get in between them, you’ll always lose. Here’s an idea: Get in on your soon-to-be mother-in-law’s good side by spending time with her.

Obviously, your man likes her, so there must be some good there. I love hanging out with my out-laws. It just means the family is close. Don’t you want to be close to family members and know what’s going on in their life?

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
