Suspense, intrigue and a mysterious doll all contribute to make “Wait Until Dark” an excellent choice for scary thrills this October.

This psychological thriller is presented by the Greeley Community Theatre Troupe.
The villain is brought to life by 39-year-old Brad Mueller.

In real life, Mueller is a land-use planner. He has been involved in theatre since elementary school and he brings experience to the character of Mr. Roat.  Mueller has to mentally prepare to become the criminally minded con man.

“I throw myself into imaging what that person would be like.  It’s not just the lines but… will he be rude, angry, or have a chip on his shoulder?  After I decide on all the characteristics he has, I try to take those on,” Mueller said.

Director Noel Johnston believes this performance will be worth the money to thrill seekers.

“There is something vicariously thrilling about seeing people in danger and in peril,” Johnston said.

Mueller agrees that audiences looking for a scare will be satisfied.
“It is a scary play, which is perfect because it’s around Halloween time.  This performance is a suspenseful classic.  It’s done in Hitchcock style with a lot of good surprises,” Mueller said.

The story revolves around Suzy Hendrix, a newlywed who has recently been blinded. Throughout the story, Suzy has to deal with the challenge of her disability while warding off thugs who want something she has.  Suzy’s husband goes away on business and she and her 10-year-old neighbor are left to fend for themselves against the criminals who are after them.  In the end Suzy attempts to level the playing field by using her intelligence.

Fans of suspense thrillers may think this story sounds familiar. “Wait Until Dark” has appeared in several formats over the years.  It debuted on Broadway in 1964, starring Robert Duvall and Lee Remick.  In 1967, Alfred Hitchcock adapted the story to film, his version starred Audrey Hepburn.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
