Death row inmate commits suicide before his execution |

 He was scheduled to die in 18 hours.
But it appears that a Texas death-row inmate took his own life. A prison official said that Michael Dewayne Johnson, 29, slit his own throat with a makeshift knife early Thursday, committing suicide less than 18 hours before he was scheduled to be executed.
Johnson was on death row for the 1995 killing of a convenience store clerk near Waco. Prison officials said he was able to make a blade from a small piece of metal attached to a wooden stick.
Prison guards had been checking on Johnson every 15 minutes when they found him unresponsive in a pool of blood in his cell, officials said. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Johnson's last-minute appeal was still pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
