Though Sony can't seem to catch a break from delays and diving profits as it launches the PlayStation 3, the games themselves are starting to trickle out. And they look gorgeous.
asap got hands-on with a few of the titles due out when the console is released in stores Nov. 17, priced at $500 or $600. And we checked out what you'll see before you start gaming.
The PS3's user interface emulates the intuitive PSP format — with separate sections for games, video, audio, photos, settings and user profiles.
The photo viewer featured a 3D animation option that displayed photos as if they were printed pictures dropping onto an all-white screen. It's impressive if a bit gimmicky.
There will be an option for "remote play" allowing PS3 owners to transmit video, audio and photos to their PS3 through a wireless connection. And there's an Internet connection meaning you can surf the Web on your TV, either using a keyboard attached by USB or your PS3 controller (though that is a clunky process).
We have mixed reactions about that controller, dubbed SIXAXIS. It feels a bit too light at times. We want heft with our gaming, and this one felt like it was about to fly away.
We also missed the PS2 controller's rumble feature. But motion-sensing tilt action was seamlessly built in to certain games, and the SIXAXIS has the potential to steal the thunder of Nintendo's Wii.
As for the thing gamers care most about — games — there's a formidable lineup. In the accompanying video, take a look at a few of the games we tried, and hear our initial reactions.

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
