Venus and Saturn do not share many opinions on the subject of love. Saturn thinks love is born out of discipline, overcoming obstacles and setting limits. Venus scoffs at this point of view, yet can't help but acknowledge how humans want what they can't, apparently, have. It takes an open mind to find a way around roadblocks to love. ARIES (March 21-April 19). Your way of relaxing may seem strange to some, but different strokes for different folks. If you're getting some kind of comfort, peace or help from it, keep it. TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You're very persistent. It's your blessing and your curse. Try and see different angles now. If there's another way to solve your problem, you'll find it tonight. GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You're a person who intuitively knows that you are a part of every person you come into contact with. Commit yourself to the ties that bind -- families, cultures and ultimately countries. CANCER (June 22-July 22). Either things are getting out of hand, or things were never really in your hands. This lack of control is a wonderful occurrence. It makes you realize the extent of your control. LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). High self-esteem is what people aim for, but that's not to say it's ideal. A little low self-esteem makes you try harder. And by trying harder, you'll get places -- places that people who never tried will never go. TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 12). It's not only that you have things you want to do this year, but you also have a person you want to be -- a version of yourself that is confident and in control of your health, your influence and your lifestyle. It's all attainable. The work you do to change a few beliefs and overcome a fear in the next 10 weeks will be key. Taurus and Cancer people adore you. Lucky numbers are: 8, 10, 36, 24 and 5. VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Though your ideas are unconventional, they're also extremely practical. Smart people are listening to you. What matters is that you love what you're about. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You're an adventurer. If you go down the wrong road today, don't worry. You can always get wonderfully lost, and then turn back. What really matters is that you dared to go. SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Anyone can get along with someone they are like. But you do something rare today -- you connect with someone who doesn't agree with you. This gives you points in heaven. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You feel free to do what you want because you're certain about how loved ones will react to you. If you were a betting person, you would put your money on it. But don't. Today, you'd lose it. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You're ready to take the next step in a relationship. Being ready is enough. The other person can sense your readiness, and you don't even have to say a word. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). The standard you have been trying to achieve with your talent is so high it may be causing you stress. Still, with practice you'll get there. Once you laugh at your own mistakes, everything seems better. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You speak up about what's bugging you, and it turns out the same thing bugs other people, too. You could band together to make a difference, or you could just let it go. Both choices are good. FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: The animal kingdom teaches us there are a million different ways to navigate the world. A cat's eyes adjust so that they can see clearly in one-sixth the amount of light humans need. Bats send out radar to figure out where to go next. Dogs hear high frequencies and smell fear. The cosmic kingdom has a similar lesson now as Mercury continues in a retrograde motion and the sun transits through the subtle and secret realm of Scorpio. If you're not making progress by approaching life in your usual manner, the stars suggest that this is an opportunity to explore other navigational methods. If you normally argue your way through, meditate instead. If you normally talk it out, hug it out. If you normally find reason, try finding a new belief. By Friday, Mercury decides it's time to end this game. The sun wraps up his Scorpio transit, but is by no means finished pointing out to us what we usually might miss. Life is hinged together by fine details, subtle connections and collective beliefs. Being willing to see the stripped-down truth is all it takes -- the great reveal happens for all who want to know how the magic tricks are pulled off. But for those who want to savor the mystery, don't fear knowledge. The more you learn, the more there is to know. CELEBRITY PROFILES: Intense Scorpio actor Ryan Gosling brings audiences along on his emotional journey, which is why he can comfortably emote alongside legends like "Fracture" co-star Anthony Hopkins. I see Gosling putting this kind of dedication and passion into his personal life, which is why his relationship with fellow Canadian actress Rachel McAdams is sure to heat up this year. | | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
