ARE YOU BEING WATCHED?
 Weld County employees’ every attempt to access a blocked Internet site is logged. Some department heads check their employees’ Internet usage every month.
Employees at North Colorado Medical Center can visit their favorite sites on lunch breaks, but don’t try to buy an airline ticket online. Employees may need their supervisor’s permission for some sites. And don’t download MP3 or movies. They check that regularly.
Hall-Irwin Corp. administrators check the most frequently visited sites that are nonwork related and will block them once they notice a pattern — that’s why there’s no more espn.com.
State Farm administrators don’t want to “manage their employees electronically,” but bad Web sites are blocked; visit the Web on your breaks, no problem, but no online poker.
Aims and the University of Northern Colorado employees are on the honor system.
Employees at Union Colony Bank might as well try to stay busy. Extra Internet use may just earn you an extra turn at envelope stuffing to use your time more efficiently.
Though some of the more offensive and time-consuming Web sites are blocked, Swift & Co. employees are on the honor system, too. The company concerns itself more with internal controls of information related to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, which tightened accounting and reporting standards for public companies (Swift is a private company with public debt).

I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
