Yay! More Sean Bean.I found this article at zap2it.com. If I remember correctly the Hitcher dies. So he will most likely die! AGAIN! I suppose he dies well. Can I please watch one new movie with him in it where he doens't kick the bucket? Please? ugh!
The final casting piece seems to be in place for the upcoming Platinum Dunes and Rogue Pictures remake of "The Hitcher.
According to a variety of online sources, including the reliable folks (on such matters, at least) at Bloody-Disgusting.com, Zachary Knighton has snagged the young male lead in the project, joining Sean Bean ("Silent Hill") and Sophia Bush ("One Tree Hill").
Production on "The Hitcher," helmed by music video veteran Dave Meyers, is just about ready to begin, with producers eying an April 13, 2007 release date.
The original, directed by Robert Harmon, focused on a young man (C. Thomas Howell) who picks up a lunatic (Rutger Hauer), who stalks him and kills a variety of people over the course of 100 minutes.
The remake focuses on a couple (Knighton and Bush) and their unfortunate interactions with the madman (Bean) they meet on the side of the road. There's been speculation (perhaps confirmed by the lateness of the Knighton casting) that the new version, adapted by Eric Bernt and Jake Wade Wall, puts the female lead at the center of the story.
Knighton played one of the leads in FOX's short-lived slacker comedy "Life on a Stick." He's also appeared in several features, including "The Mudge Boy" and "The Prince & Me." | |
meh... Written by Pikachu on 2006-06-15 08:44:14 I've never seen the Omen. So I wouldn't know its a classic. I saw the Hitcher when I was a kid. I think the remake of it could be very good. | Who cares that it's a classic!!!! Written by punkhorror on 2006-06-15 07:45:00 ARRRGH! That is like saying who cares if the Omen is a classic, or quick lets re-do Ringu, or hey I have a great idea, lets remake Texas Chainsaw!!!! Sean should be ashamed! He should be hot, but ashamed. | I just added the paragraph break myself. Written by Pikachu on 2006-06-14 15:50:08 I know your frustration about the paragraph breaks, and before that all the slashes, and weird stuff etc. We seriously are working on it. Please don't leave our site! =o( And who cares that it's a classic! Sean Bean is in it! Hope he doesn't look too old in this one. He's starting to not look so hot anymore. hmm.... | remaking the Hitcher :( Written by punkhorror on 2006-06-14 14:55:45 Always messing with the classics... BTW how did you get the paragraph breaks, I can't get it to do that...Damn the man trying to keep the little guy down. | I think I heard a SHOT! Written by FullMetal Alchemist on 2006-06-14 14:44:14 Sorry, but he most likely will be shot. . .in the face. . . but at least it won't happen till the end of the movie and not 10 min. in? |

| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
