WHATEVER STARS WANT, THIS GREELEY WOMAN GETS
A heap of stage crew passes and autographed photos of Lonestar and Styx are sprawled on the table in front of Cassie Lapcewich. But she isn’t some crazed groupie. She’s worked hard for them.

Lapcewich spends two weeks out of the year running errands for stars.
“Not everyone can say I took Phil Vassar to the gym or Joe Diffie golfing,” Lapcewich said.

The 25-year-old from Greeley has worked as a runner for the Wrangler Organization, the Greeley Stampede’s volunteer group, for five years now. She shares the job with one other person, often working from 8 a.m. to midnight with just a few breaks in between.

“In the morning I meet with a road manager or crew manager and am at their disposal for the day,” Lapcewich said. “If the artist wants to go work out, if somebody wants to go play golf, needs to do errands, whatever they need to do while they are here, they come to me.”

Though some celebrities are a little more demanding than others, Lapcewich wouldn’t comment on any over-the-top requests.

“We try to promote the positive aspects,” she said. “We try to let them keep to themselves and try not to bug them. We don’t get involved with them too much. We are there to do a job and they are there to do a job.”

Lapcewich has quite the memory bank of stories of the rich and famous, but has become immune to star-struck symptoms.

“We don’t ever go ask for autographs. That’s not what we’re there for. If somebody happens to offer one, then great. You deserve it and earned it, but we are there to take care of them, not hound them,” she said.

The biggest thing is food requests.

“A lot of them just want pizza to go,” she said.

Def Leppard had a craving for Japanese food a few years ago, which was a first.
“Just about anything they have asked for food-wise, we’ve been able to get,” Lapcewich said.

Among her personal favorite stars have been Gary Allan and Phil Vassar because of their music. One of the perks of the job is getting to see all of the concerts for free.
This year, Lapcewich is excited to see and work with Gretchen Wilson and Big & Rich.

“I listen to a huge variety of music, but I do like my country,” she said.

FullMetal Alchemist (48)

FullMetal Alchemist"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

3 Wise-asses (15)

3wiseassesWe're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!) We call it insight, you call it what you will.

Ravings, rantings, and gibberish. (36)

DrewWhat is up FoCo? I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado. I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks. Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know! --Drew
