The Cancer sun casts a cozy glow on familiar surroundings. Why venture out when you can find everything you need in the comfort of home? This is a fun day to open that old cigar box in the attic and see what you hid away all those years ago, or dig through the cupboard for valuable treasures you didn't even know you had.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You're a deeply feeling person who, for whatever reason, isn't feeling deeply today. Detachment allows you to think things through, delight in high-minded activities and, most of all, take no offense.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Calm and collected is your creed. Therefore, things that are expected to go off, like alarm clocks and volcanoes, have a far less startling impact than, say, an outburst from the likes of you, such as one that could happen today.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Sharp observation is your astral gift. You're wisely paying close attention to the most ordinary things. You could suddenly understand something or someone completely familiar in a way you never did before.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). To say you're driven is an understatement. Besides, it feels more like your special project is driving you. The night could find you toiling upward while others sleep, so tomorrow, it appears as though you've taken flight.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Every thought's path seems to lead you back to the same idea. This is a sign to do something about it -- something (SET ITAL) besides (END ITAL) obsessing. It also may be a sign that you're in love.
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (July 2). Romantic enchantment and exciting career developments make this a red-letter year. Events in the summer cause you to retrace your steps and land somewhere completely new by September. Additions to your family are featured in November. January brings a windfall. Capricorn and Taurus people are particularly supportive love interests. Your lucky numbers are: 7, 39, 21, 18 and 35.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You think you're ready to go to the next level in your creative work. When you're ready, you'll be doing it. See if there's not something more you can learn, a step missed or a person you need to know.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The thing about magic is, there's always a certain percentage of the public who can't suspend their disbelief because they're too bent on figuring out the "trick." Today, you'll win over even those skeptics.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Your cravings are a sign that a basic need has yet to be met! If you satisfy the need, your symptoms finally abate, and you can get back to what you were doing.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). The stars shed a light on the gems in your life -- the people whose commitment to you makes your way easier. Show your gratitude, and they will sparkle up your path.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You have better things to do with your time than sit around and invent work. If someone else has already plotted a project and they give you the tools, you finish the job -- and take great pleasure in doing so!
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). An emphasis on listening and receiving wisdom will allow you to accomplish much with very little effort. Once you release the need to prove your point, the right people "get it."
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Doctors and lawyers and accountants -- oh, my! Expert advice doesn't come cheap, but peace of mind is priceless. Preview upcoming meetings in your head. Preparation helps you get the most for your money.
FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: This week honors Independence Day in the United States and also Canada Day as the sun transits through Cancer, the most patriotic of signs. Cancer is a celebration of home and everything that word means, be it the homeland of one's country or the homeland of one's yard or bedroom. The symbol for Cancer, the crab, is a bit of a contradiction. Since it carries its shelter on its back, it's always at home. Indeed, "home" is a comfort level, and thus a state of mind. Though Cancer people often tend to be a tad uncomfortable outside their domestic surroundings, this discomfort teaches where the growing edge is. Lessons of tolerance and love come through this transit. In the safety of our home environment, we hopefully learn and grow loving habits that we then bring to the rest of the world. This transit also highlights the idea of taking care of oneself in order to better take care of others. Airplane passengers are told, when the oxygen masks drop, to secure their own first so they will be conscious enough to help others secure theirs. This week's solar transit through Cancer is the perfect time to apply that rule to your personal life.
CELEBRITY PROFILES: The adorably charming moonchild Lindsay Lohan craves the better things in life and isn't afraid to use her movie-star status to get them. Her return to the silver screen in the recent "A Prairie Home Companion" and the upcoming "Chapter 27" will remind us all how she got that status -- (SET ITAL) through innate talent (END ITAL). I see a busy awards season ahead for this inimitable Cancer.

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
