Question: Nintendo Co.'s eagerly awaited Wii console, which features an unusual motion-sensing wireless controller, launches on Sunday. asap asked Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, what's the best of the bunch?
Answer:"In terms of first-party games, we have 'Zelda,' which is getting fantastic reviews and fantastic scores by all the game enthusiast magazines -- perfect scores, in fact. There's 'Excite Truck,' which is a whole new way to enjoy a racing game by using the remote like a steering wheel.
"From third parties, there is 'Red Steel,' which is an action game where you both manipulate all different types of weapons as well as work through a world set in Japan. There are games like 'Super Monkey Ball' for younger fans, so the range of assortment is tremendous and what gives us a lot of confidence going into this holiday season."

Question: Some PlayStation fans are grumbling about the lack of a "rumble" feature in the controller for the new PlayStation 3, a feature that was apparently jettisoned in favor of making the controller sense the movement of the user's hands. We asked Kazuo Hirai, head of Sony Computer Entertainment America, how are game developers taking to the new controller?
Answer: "I think it's been phenomenal, the reaction that we've gotten from all of the publishing and development partners. I know all the publishers are looking at incorporating it in games that they're developing right now.
"As compared to a vibration function, which was more of a reactionary kind of functionality, this one is an interactive feature, where the user can proactively use the motion-sensing technology to really affect the game play ... for example, checking somebody in a hockey game by shifting the controller left or right. Once you have (flying) games like 'Lair' and 'Warhawk' come out, you'll be able to really take advantage of that functionality."

| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
