A reunion, definitely more exciting than any of your family’s, is scheduled for Dec. 2 at the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins. 12 Cents for Marvin celebrates ten years – already? – Saturday night with several past members joining in on the action.
“Two original horn players, John Bosley and Steve Vromdey, two keyboard players, Seth Ruston and Shawn Jasper, guitarist Sammy Tazzect … is that enough?” lead singer Tom Werge said. “So we’ll have all kinds of alum at the celebration show.”
12 Cents always keeps the party light. “As a ska/reggae band, we have a lot of energy and people have a good time,” Werge said. Their line-up currently consists of: Werge, who also plays trumpet; Hilary Spriggs and Nik on bass and guitar; trumpet player Greta; John on trombone; drummer Soren; saxophonist Dave; and Aaron on percussion and Theremin.
“Lots of people at the shows are enjoying the sound,” Werge said. “So I think we’ll continue to write and perform new music to entertain the audience.”
Several different types of music inspire Werge, including country. “In fact, we’re tossing around the idea for a new project combining ska with country. There are synergies to it you wouldn’t imagine,” he said.
Keeping the audience on its toes seems easy for the group, who has varied musical tastes. “The horn players listen to a lot of jazz,” Werge said, “Greta listens to grunge rock, Soren is currently listening to nothing but 1960-’70s straight reggae from Jamaica, Hilary likes classic rock, and we all listen to ska and other local bands that we play with.”
All in all, the auditory pleasure that is 12 Cents for Marvin is an enduring one. Werge said, “We feel really lucky to have made it this far and it just seems inevitable to keep going.”

| | "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." | |
| | We're not that bright, even though in our own little world, we're geniuses. We like 80s hair bands and one-hit wonders, but among us we have respectable tastes, too. Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2. Pursuit of all things trivial is a lifestyle, not just a game. We like some sports, love other sports, and can find something to say about anything. We watch TV and movies and we've read a book or two, even a few classics (Yes, Classic Comics count!)
We call it insight, you call it what you will. | |

| | What is up FoCo?
I am a recent college graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead. After recieving my B.A. in English and Mass Communications this past August I moved down to Colorado.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and heavy metal. My hobbies include reading and writing, music, movies, and getting drunk. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Kurt Vonnegut. My top movies are anything directed by Kubrick. I enjoy listening to anything that rocks.
Right now I am just trying to get to know Colorado and FoCo better. Mostly in order to find the best drink specials on each day that ends in Y. So if you know where I can get a cheap drunk on, let me know!
